What is Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction is the failure to get or keep an erection for long enough to satisfy yourself and partner. Ten percent of men have an erection problem. Eighty per cent of them have an underlying illness (organic), though many men have a combination of organic and psychological problems.
Major causes include:
Diabetes - 50% of patients with diabetes develop erections problems
Surgery - Prostate, Bowel and Pelvic surgery can lead to erectile dysfunction
Drugs - Blood pressure tablets can affect erectile function, recreational drugs, including alcohol and smoking
Other Illness - Trauma injury, nerve damage and cardiovascular disease |
